M3 MacBook Air 2024 Release Date and Price: Launching March 2024!

All the information you required

On October 30, 2023, Apple organized an event for reporters to announce the 13-inch MacBook Pro’s farewell and to reveal the new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models that will come powered by M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Extreme processors. An M3 iMac was additionally released by the organization. While it didn’t appear at the event, the new MacBook Air seems to be launching soon.
It is only an extension of time until the M3 chip appears in the MacBook Air, given its previous appearance. When, though? This is all the information you need to know about the upcoming MacBook Air, including verified data, the most recent rumors, and suppositions according to the information at hand and Apple’s history.

M3 MacBook Air 2024

M3 MacBook Air: Release date

The M2 MacBook Air was open to buying for more than 18 months, having debuted in 2022. We expected that the original 15-inch M2 MacBook Air and the latest updates would be launched at the same time since Apple first revealed the device in June 2023.
According to a July 2023 claim by Mark Gurman, the editor of Bloomberg, it appears that Apple could release a 13-inch MacBook Air update reveal over another fall 2023 event. He recently modified his projection, suggesting that a new MacBook Air might not arrive until 2024.

Gurman indicated in a message from October that “all those looking out for a new MacBook Air are likely to have to wait a little more.” The technical verification test, or EVT, stage for the 13- and 15-inch M3 devices was just recently reached, depending on what I’m being informed. Therefore, they will likely be available around the beginning or end of next year at the earliest. Gurman announced the start of “deep” production of new MacBooks in late January 2024. According to insiders, the new MacBook Air will be launched in the coming months, along with new Apple iPads.
Having such in mind, we expect the release of the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air M3 updates during both the Wordcamp in June 2024 and an Apple event in the spring.

M3 MacBook Air: Price

Apple lowered the price of the 13-inch version by $100, or £100, once the M2 15-inch MacBook Air launched in June 2023. We assume it remains at its previous price for now in the USA, but Apple could make use of the M3 upgrade to increase the price back to $1,199.
After increasing prices due to moves in currency exchange rates until the end of 2022, Apple may lower costs in the United Kingdom and other international markets. To prepare for changes in currencies, the company reduced the price of iPhones in September 2023. Additionally, when Apple appeared with the MacBook Pro M3-series, the price of different versions was reduced in the United Kingdom while keeping the same in the United States.

The M3 13-inch MacBook Air’s price and specifications will likely follow those of the current M2 13-inch MacBook Air or be close. For your reference, here are the prices and specifications of the M2 13-inch MacBook Air standard configurations:

  • 13-inch, M2 chip with 8-core CPU, 8GB of memory, 256GB SSD: $1,099/£1,149
  • 13-inch, M2 chip with 8-core CPU/10-core GPU, 8GB of memory, 512GB SSD: $1,399/£1,449
  • 15-inch, M2 chip with 8-core CPU/10-core GPU, 8GB of memory, 512GB SSD: $1,299/£1,399
  • 15-inch, M2 chip with 8-core CPU/10-core GPU, 8GB of memory, 512GB SSD: $1,499/£1,599

We expect that retail prices in the UK will go back to a similar dollar amount, which would translate to £1,099 and £1,399, for example.
Apple will keep charging $999/£999 for the 13-inch MacBook Air M1, the same pricing it cost at release in October of that year. Apple reportedly expects to reduce the price of the M2 MacBook Air to $999 when the M3 version goes on sale, finally replacing the M1 MacBook Air.

The M3 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air are going to be available through traditional sales channels, such as Amazon, the Apple Store, and other recognized dealers. Our website on MacBook Air deals has the best pricing for a new MacBook Air.

M3 MacBook Air: Design

M3 MacBook Air 2024

Apple additionally provided the M2 13-inch MacBook Air with its first full change at the time of its first appearance. Its basic looks are similar to those of the 14-inch MacBook Pro, replacing the curved style.
Since this new design was only utilized on one Air generation, we expect no major modifications from Apple with the M3 version. That’s great because it’s already among the smallest and lightest devices offered.

  • 15-inch MacBook Air M2: 13.40 x 9.35 x 0.45in (34.04 x 23.76 x 1.15cm), 2.8 pounds (1.51kg)
  • 13-inch MacBook Air M2: 11.97 x 8.46 x 0.44in (30.41 x 21.5 x 1.13cm), 2.7 pounds (1.24kg)
  • 13-inch MacBook Air M1: 11.97 x 8.36 x 0.16-0.63in (30.41 x 21.24 x 0.41-1.61cm), 2.8 pounds (1.29kg)

M3 MacBook Air: Display

The M2 model’s panel and the M3 MacBook Air will likely be similar. The 13.3-inch visual screen utilized in the M1 13-inch Air MacBook and the 13-inch MacBook Pro have a density of pixels of 2,560 by 1,600. As a result, Apple offers genuine tone gadgets, an ultimate brightness of 500 nits, and a 13.6-inch Clear Vision screen with P3 members shading help for its 13-inch MacBook Air line. The brightness of the 13-inch Pro is 500 nits, but the M1 Air’s brightness is 400 nits. Since the new M3 MacBook Pro offers 600 units, we may receive an upgrade in this way. Pro Action, a new MacBook Pro work, is not anything we expect to see on the next MacBook Air.

If Apple continues to utilize liquid retina displays for the MacBook Air, mini-LED technology will likely be involved in the M3 model. The 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros are expected to include an AMOLED screen; so Apple may choose a mini-LED for the Air, as it will be less costly to run and brighter than the current screen. However, pro-level capabilities like ProMotion and HDR are likely to be added.
The 1080p Apple camera gap at the top of the display, which retains the 16:10 overall size of the LCD panel above it, is likely going to remain on the M3 MacBook Air. While we expect to see Face ID on MacBooks shortly, it is unlikely that it will happen.

The M3 MacBook Air only has one Thunderbolt connection for linking external gadgets, so only one observation can be utilized. This also applies to the M3 MacBook Pro, suggesting that the M3 Pro is not subject to the same M3 chip limitation. One external display with a screen size of up to 6K at 60 Hz can be powered by the laptop. Try using independent hardware and software as a solution if you need to connect more screens.

M3 MacBook Air: Colors

The M3 MacBook Air from Apple is most likely going to be available in the same four colors as the M2 model: Starlight, Silver, Midnight, and Space Gray. Apple has been indicated to be deciding to release MacBook Air colors that match the iMac’s colorful beyond for years, but those opinions weren’t realized. Apple may bring the new Space Black color from the MacBook Pro to the Air to replace Space Gray.

M3 MacBook Air: Specs

The M3 chip’s features are known to us: it has an 8-core CPU and an 8- or 10-core GPU. That sounds a great deal like the 8 CPU cores found in the M1 and M2, the latter of which also has a 10-core GPU option. As the M3 chip is made using a new 3nm process, it may sound similar to its predecessor. Many devices may be generated with this method compared to the superior 5nm technique utilized for the M2. We have already tested the M3 and found it to be faster than most M1 Pro revisions, proving the substantial advances made in this technology. See how the M3 compares to all other Apple CPUs.

8–24GB of RAM is also supported by the M3. The M1 and M2 had 8GB of unified memory out of the device. While the M1’s greatest memory was 16GB, the M2’s memory can be upgraded to 24GB, just like the M3. Since we don’t think the regular 8GB of memory is suitable, we suggest getting the biggest memory you can afford. Our experience has shown that Photoshop and Safari can require a large amount of RAM, even if you’re not utilizing high-end apps.
Despite the statement made by John Borchers, Apple’s director of worldwide product marketing, “8GB on an M3 MacBook Pro may be similar to 16GB on other systems.” The reason for this is that Apple produced a unified memory system that incorporated the RAM into the processor when it moved to Apple silicon for the Mac and may distribute it to many parts of the system quickly.

We are not expecting the MacBook Air’s shortage of internal fans to change. Greater CPU or GPU loads may cause the fanless design of the M2 Air to slow down, but higher-end efficiency may benefit from the improved performance of the M3.

M3 MacBook Air 2024

The MacBook Air features two Thunderbolt 4/USB-C ports, a headphone jack, and a MagSafe 3 connector for a power supply (the Thunderbolt allows for fast charging as well). It’s probably just going to be an additional USB-C port if Apple adds one.
There is wireless connectivity via Wi-Fi 6 on the current Air. After the release of Wi-Fi 6E to the Mac mini and MacBook Pro, Apple is probably going to include it in the upcoming MacBook Air as well.
Are you hoping to see 5G on a MacBook? It won’t happen this time, but it is coming, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Read: If you’re waiting for a 5G MacBook, it’s coming–but not for a while.

M3 MacBook Air: Battery and charging

The 15-inch MacBook Air version offers a 66.5-watt-hour lithium-polymer battery pack, while the M2 13-inch Mac Air comes with a 52.6-watt-hour battery. has the same size batteries.
The M3 Mac Air’s battery life is expected with the 14- and 16-inch M3 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro versions.
Per the company Apple, you can enjoy media on your Apple TV app for a maximum of 18 hours and explore the web for as much as fifteen hours on the Air battery.

With regard to battery life, this may be better than the Air as it is now. While the M3 MacBook Pro comes with a 70W USB-C connectivity battery, the M2 13-inch MacBook Air costs $1,099/£1,149 and comes with a regular 30W USB-C power connector. A 35W Dual USB-C Port Compact Battery Connector is included in the $1,399/£1,449 model to allow for both charging of two devices. Any model comes with a USB-C to MagSafe 3 power connection. With one of the 70W USB-C Power Converters on our list of the best MacBook Air chargers, or another, the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air allow fast charging as well.
