According to reports, Google has added support for eSIM (electronic SIM card) transfers between Android smartphones. The first indication of this feature came last year, when some users were able to successfully move their eSIMs from previous Pixel phones to the Pixel 8. Users appear to be able to move their digital SIM cards from their existing cellphones to a Samsung Galaxy S24 series phone, suggesting that the Pixel device is no longer the only device capable of doing this.

Google announced its intentions to allow consumers to convert their existing physical SIM cards to eSIMs and to allow the transfer of eSIMs between devices at MWC 2023. Although this capability was first seen when users upgraded from previous Pixel phones to the Pixel 8, its presence on the Galaxy S24 Ultra suggests that Google plans to make the feature available to other manufacturers.

The possibility of moving your existing eSIM to a different phone is currently not generally available. As per Android Police, this particular functionality is presently limited to T-Mobile eSIM profiles. People who live in places outside of T-Mobile\’s coverage area, including India, will be able to move their current eSIMs to another Android device as soon as their local telecom providers enable Google\’s transfer capability.
