5 Senses, 1 Experience: Exploring the AirPods Max

\"\"

Introduction

Apple\’s elite over-ear headphones, the AirPods Max, combine superior sound quality with an elegant appearance. Imagine listening to your music while wearing headphones that look great and provide the feeling of being in the center of a performance. Wearing them is comfortable, and they effectively block out outside noise, allowing you to fully concentrate on your music or other media.

We are excited to take a trip into the world of audio innovation today with the Apple AirPods Max

Design and fit

\"\"

If you value looks, the AirPods Max is your best option.

Unsurprisingly, they\’re among the most attractive over-ear headphones, given Apple\’s unique minimalist design and amazing color choice.

A premium, stylish pair of headphones is what they are all about, which is important considering how expensive they are. They have a rounded aluminum outer shell, a stainless steel mesh headband, and cushioned ear cushions.

They are available in various colors, including grey, silver, pink, blue, and green.

The matching-color AirPods Max smart case and headphones are just as stylish. Unlike many other top models, these headphones cannot be folded; instead, you must rotate the ear cups so that they lie flat in the clever case.

This indicates that they occupy more room in your bag than you might be accustomed to. We don\’t think that should be a deal breaker, even though it might not be the most convenient for you.

How I use AirPods Max

\"\"

Before I go into the details, let me explain how I use my AirPods Max.

They\’re the first headphones I put on every day when I insanely start working at six in the morning. I usually create the words you\’re reading now in the early hours of the day.

I also occasionally use them for calls, for one very good reason, which I’ll get onto later.

When I\’m sitting there, visibly trying to think of what to write next, AirPods Max plays a crucial part in my life. Their outstanding noise-canceling capabilities and comfortable design make them the ideal \’focus\’ headphones.

Battery Life

\"\"

The AirPods Max are advertised for 20 hours of battery life, which sounds about accurate; like other modern over-the-ear noise-canceling headphones, you\’ll easily reach that from active use. As I\’ve previously stated, everything works well beyond the 20 hours of stated battery life for headphones.

Nevertheless, AirPods Max have terrible standby performance. I know this because I also have a set of Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones, which have incredible standby time—when they\’re switched off, they don\’t appear to lose even a percentage point.

The inability to turn the AirPods Max off is its main drawback. A lot of individuals wrote this off at launch as a non-issue, but in my opinion, the reverse is true. And sure, I know you can put them in that dumb case to put them in low-power mode, but it doesn\’t help with daily use.

Being unable to accomplish this ultimately results in headphones that run out of power far more quickly than headphones that you can switch off.

Apple\’s foolish, annoying choice to use lightning charging on AirPods Max instead of USB-C. I have to search for a cable specifically meant for my AirPods Pro, which works far better in standby mode, thus charging them is always a hassle.

I know I\’ve been overly dramatic, but battery life is a crucial component of wireless headphones. Unfortunately, AirPods Max are the most inconvenient in terms of standby time and charging efficiency. I just use them at home, so that\’s a good thing.

The problem of moisture

Yes, it is real. Look behind the ear pad and you will probably see tiny particles of moisture on the speaker covering if you take your AirPods Max off your head after using them for a bit.

I\’ve checked around about this, and it seems that most people agree that most headphones collect moisture of some kind while being used. With AirPods Max, the difference is that, if you look for them, you can see them.

After six months of continuous usage, mine have not malfunctioned.

If the condensation has stopped you from purchasing them, don\’t worry about it.

Sound Quality

It\’s outstanding.

The consumer headphones that sound the greatest that I have ever heard are the AirPods Max.

Neither are they intended for music lovers. Whatever material these devices play, their sound is meant to surprise regular customers from the minute they put them on their heads.

The sound is rich, expensive-sounding, and aesthetically high-fidelity. Although it\’s been mentioned that music lovers aren\’t the intended market for AirPods Max, they will still laugh at this.

Apple\’s modification of the Equalization profile on these cans is clever, as the sound quality, when combined with their excellent style and craftsmanship, can instantly eliminate any buyer\’s regrets.

Even though I have mixed opinions about Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio, I believe that the AirPods Max are the best headphones for experiencing them.

Excellent noise cancellation is also included. Once more, it\’s the greatest I\’ve heard, but it should be.

Call Capabilities

The fact that so few people discuss the AirPods Max\’s calling capabilities has always amazed me.

Transparency mode is the main reason they\’re the best headphones I have for accepting calls.

Transparency mode, which softly filters in surrounding sounds, including your speech, may be activated by pushing a button on the headphones. It accomplishes this with inbuilt microphones, and as a result, you get a high-fidelity, synthetic equivalent for your environment.

You can hear yourself and everyone else on the phone crystal clear while using AirPods Max for calls. It\’s delightful, addicting, and incredibly practical.

Would I repurchase the AirPods Max?

\"\"

No.
The competition is too strong, and even though I\’ve had a lot of positive experiences with AirPods Max over the last six months, they\’re simply too costly.

They\’re also severely let down by the severely dumb casing and the previously noted battery life problems.
If these were a personal buy, I just couldn\’t justify the cost. Since I don\’t need a pair of AirPods Max, they would have to work very hard to take up that much of my optional budget.
